Low Level Laser Treatments (LLLT) are beginning to gain popularity as an effective hair loss/ restoration treatment for men and women.

The treatment consist of individually tailored plans which are administered by a qualified professional,  trained in the cosmetic use of these low level  lasers for hair restoration. The most important thing here, is the word "qualified", be sure to check the qualifications of the individual administrating the treatments, to insure that they know what they are doing.

The FDA has approved the device for hair grow treatments, however, keep in mind that the FDA also approved Rogaine and Minoxidill  as treatments for hair loss.  The record of negative side effects, and the ineffecitiveness of Rogaine and Minoxidil are well known.

However, there is solid evidence to support the use of Low Level Laser Treatments.

First you should be evaluated by a professional to rule out a possible medical cause for your hair loss.  Once it is determined that  the LLLT will likely be a suitable treatment for you, the treatment can begin.  You will be encouraged to use supplemention and special shampoo and conditioners to maximize your treatments success.  You may also be asked to make dietary and lifestyle changes.  Your Clinician will document your progress with the use of digital photos, this is an effective way to measure your improvement, or lack thereof.

Most individuals using this protocol see results in a few months, and the use of microscopic scalp evaluation will be used to assess your progress.

Treatments are typically scheduled for twelve months, with an evalution at the end of the treatments to determine if additional treatments are needed.  However, it is typically recommended that one treatment be done per month to maintain your results.

During the active treatment phase you will be scheduled for two laser treatments per week. This will require a time commitment, think about this ahead of time.  Your treatments will consist of  you sitting under the laser for up to 20 minutes per session.  Most people do not experience any negative side effects.  However, you should discuss this issue with your Clinician before the treatments start.

Your Clinician may recommend scalp massage and other topical treatments to enhance the effectiveness of the LLLT.

The use of Low Level Lasers for the treatment of hair loss is very interesting indeed.  You can Google "Low Level Laser Treatments", to get additional information, and to see if there are treatment centers in your local area.

Happy Hair Growing!
